Rothert Throws Discus 144 ft. By Telegraph—Press Association. Waimate, March 5. The American athlete, Harlow Rothert, established a new Australian and New Zealand record at the Waimate amateur sports meeting by throwing the discus 144 feet 6} inches, which is sft. ’4Jin. better than the previous record. George Simpson, the American sprinter, equalled the Australian and New Zealand record by doing the 100 yards in 9 4-ssec.
