STILL NO WORD

Missing Yacht Windward MATAI’S PROGRESS After three days’ search for the missing Wellington yacht Windward in the stormy waters of the Southern Pacific, the Government steamer Matai, other than giving her position at 6 o’clock last evening, had nothing to report . . A radio message stated that the vessel at 6 p.m. yesterday was in latitude 42 degrees 39 minutes south and longitude 179 degrees 15 minutes east. She was to steer a course on 168 degrees for 300 miles and then on 262 degrees for 80 miles. Twice a day, at 7 p.m. and at 9 p.m, radio station 2YA broadcasts the ship’s position. This, it is stated, not done for the benefit of listeners, but primarily with the object of informing Windward’s crew of the position of the Matai, if the receiving set is still in working order. The rescue efforts of the Matai are being closely followed by the general public, and many keenly-interested people are plotting the position of the vessel on a map each evening as the news is put over the air.
