CONFIDENCE GANG

Australian Loses Heavily

STORY OF “RICH UNCLE”

London, January 26.

Scotland Yard is seeking an international gang of four confidence men who secured £5OO at the week-end. One of them meeting an Australian in Piccadilly asked him for a match and offered to show him the sights of London. Later they met an accomplice at Hyde Park corner, who was introduced by the familiar trick of dropping keys. He told the old story of the fortune which the uncle had bequeathed. After this the Australian parted with £290 in £lO notes and seven fivers, the numbers of which are known. The other victim was a visitor from Texas.
