Reviewing the aftermath .of the Spanish revolt the Madrid correspondent of the “Times” asserts that political health can return only when King Alfonso submits to a thorough discussion of the situation, and that the risk to the throne becomes greater every Don kntonio Maura, Conservative Leader, who has been Premier five times, declares that King Alfonso is even more treacherous than his grandfather, King Ferdinand. The gaols are full of rebels, while the elements and causes of rebellion remain outside. Non-political leaders of opinion declare that the traditional Spanish State is in the last stages of decomposition, and that / the monarchy,is an association of parasites on the nation.
