Ministerial. The Right Hon. G. W. Forbes, Prime Minister, who has been visiting his home at Cheviot, Canterbury, following upon his return from the Imperial Conference, will return to Wellington to-day. He is to preside at a meeting of Cabinet this morning. The Hon. J. B. Donald, PostmasterGeneral, will return to Wellington from Auckland by train this morning. The Hon. A. J. Stallworthy, Minister of Health, will return to Wellington from Auckland by train this morning. The Hon. H. Atmore, Minister of Education, will return tp Wellington from Nelson this morning.
The Hon. J. G. Cobbe, Minister of Defence, opened the national conference of the Institute of Horticulture, in Wellington' yesterday. The Hon. R. Masters, Minister without portfolio, is to return to Wellington from Stratford this morning. The Hon. A. J. Murdoch, Minister of Agriculture, is to open the Dominion fertiliser works at Dunedin to-day. He will later visit gold-mining areas in the district, and he is to return to Wellington on Saturday morning.
Mr. M. DI. Heinemann returned to Wellington yesterday after spending several weeks at Auckland and Rotorua. Mr. John Bishop has left for Christchurch to attend the musicians’ conference.
Mr. L. R. Petrie’s resignation of membership of the management committee of the Wellington Lawn Tennis Association was accepted with regret at last evening’s meeting. Appreciation of his assistance will be placed on record. Mr. B. G. H. Burn, chairman of the reserves committee of the Wellington City Council, mentioned yesterday that it was more than possible that he would not be a candidate for the City Council this year.
Mr. T. C. List, proprietor of the “Taranaki Daily News,” arrived in Wellington on Monday from New Plymouth, and is staying at the Grand Hotel.
Mr. J. Newman, of Nelson: Mr. N. Gill, Mr. W. Jones, Dunedin; Mr. R. L. Anderson, Lawrence; Mr. A. H. Wright, Palmerston North; Mr. J. Livingston, Dannevirke; and Mr. J. D. M. Millar, of Hamilton, are staying at the Grand Hotel.
Mr. R. Mcßitchie, of Edinburgh; Messrs. M. Braun and W. .MacLeay, Valparaiso ; Mr. N. O. Alexander, Christchurch; Mr. W. B. Coulsell, Melbourne; Mr. R. C. Dolbey, London; Dlr. F. C. Neggitt, Barry, Wales; Mr. E. J. Parrington, Levin; Mr. S. D. Speedy, Datinevirke; Dlr. J. Furnivall, Devon; and Dlr. H. Marchant, of Auckland, are at the Hotel St. George.
The Rev. Father Uhlenberg, who has heen assjeiated with St. Patrick’s Parish. Masterton, for. over four years, has been transferred to Kilbirnie, Wellington. Father Uhlenberg will join his new station in about three weeks.
