WAIWETU WORKS
Great Improvement
Work that has been done, and is still being done, in the Waiwetu district of the Lower Hutt Borough was referred to with approval by the Mayor, Sir Alexander Roberts, at the last meeting of the council.
Rossiter Avenue, he said, was now one of the finest streets in the borough. With this remark the councillors were in complete agreement. He also referred to the construction of the footpaths, which were greatly appreciated, he said. “I think,” said one councillor, amid laughter, “the deputation from Waiwetu which waited upon us some time ago should come along to us and thank us for what we have done for us.’’
“I suggest,” said another member, amid further laughter, “that the matter be left in the hands of the member for Waiwetu (Councillor D. S. Patrick).” Councillor Patrick said he was quite satisfied at the turn things had taken and the work, done, and he thought the Waiwetu ratepayers were also satisfied.
