Palmerston Offences Palmerston North, January 26. Being unlawfully ou licensed premises cost William Shaw £2 and costs. Fines ot £2 and costs were inflicted on Alexander Westland, -John Hart, and Percy Stanley Dustin for being on licensed premises after hours. H. P. Matthewson was fined £1 and 10/- for procuring liquor while a prohibited person. Edward Lewis ■ was fined £2 and £1 costs for driving a motor vehicle in a dangerous manner. Defendant had crossed the intersection of Rualilne and Main Streets at a speed greater than 20 miles per hour; On a similar charge A. F. Laurenson was fined a ’like amount. Defendant was hurrying down Church Street to catch a train. He was travelling at a fast speed and had collided with a milk lorry. Thomas J. Bettie was fined £2 and 10/costs for trading on a Sunday. Two policemen had seen sweets- being weighed out in defendant's shop as they passed. Exceeding the speed limit in a motorcar cost William Woodcock’ £2 and £1 10/- costs. Defendant had driven past workmen engaged in tar sealing on the Foxton line at a speed estimated ■ to be 30 miles per hour. Several workmen hud been obliged to step hurriedly back to prevent being hit. Exposing for sale meat slaughtered in other than a registered abattoir cost Henry Snell £2 and 10/- costs. A Goldfinch was fined 10/- and 10/costs for cycling oh a footpath. For allowing stock to wander on a public highway E. Kerrigan and J. Enwright were fined 10/- and costs each. On similar charges E. Friedlander and J. C. McEwan were fined 5/- and costs.
