WANTON DAMAGE

Street i. < f-plates

The Lower Hutt Borough Council has gone to considerable expense to replace all the old street name plates with new ones.

Unfortunately, there are some in-e- - the borough who consider the notices fair game for their destructiveness. A number of the plates have been defaced and even damaged beyond recognition.

At last night’s meeting of the council the Mayor, Sir Alexander Roberts, was led to remark in very strong terms at the people who would not protect their own property. He' asked ratepayers to assist in the attempts to have the wanton acts of destruction prevented, and the offenders brought to book.
