OBITUARY

Mr. W, S. Tannock The Tung Oil Corporation has beep advised of the. death at Kawakawa of Mr. VV. Sterling Tannock, aged 30, the company’s technical manager, states an Auckland telegram. . . The late Mr. Tannock was the son of Mr. D. Tannock, superintendent, of the Dunedin city reserves. He studied during the early part of this year at the famous Kew Botanical Gardens in England. His investigations were particularly directed toward the cultivation ot the tung plant. ■ , . In June, Mr. Tannock was appointed plantation manager by the New Zealand Tung Oil Corporation, and while returning to take up the position he spent some time observing at the experimental tung plantations in Florida, .United States of America. He arrived m New 1 Zealand in September and had lately been on the company’s plantations .. in. North Auckland. Mr. G. M. Yerex

A resident of New Zealand for many years, Mr. George Manly Yerex, died at Tahiti on November 27. His great-grand-father was a German prince who settled in Georgia prior to tje War of pendence. The family of the “ ot^ er of Mr. Yerex. being, loyal to Britain, migrated from the United States to Toronto, Canada, in order to remain under the Union Jack. Mr G M. Yerex came to New Zealand m I^Bs,. and wawfot a number of years in business at Wellington. He married a daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Samuel Pinney, of Motueka. Later Mr. Yerex was farming in the of Plenty. For health reasons he went to Tahiti in 1912, where he purchased a plantation. He is survived by Mrs Yerex. who lives at Birkenhead. There are the flowing children: Mr. A. L. Yerex, of Paris; Mr. G. £. Yerex, of Wellington; Mr. L. Yerex, of Mexico; Mr M. M. Yerex, of Birkenhead; Mrs. A. E. Park, of Wellington; Mrs. K. L. Vickcrman, of Birkenhead; and Mrs. A. J. Park, of Wellington.
