Robbing Slot Machine
Prank James Holmes-Edge, aged 20, attempted to extract a packet of cigarettes and the accompanying threepence from the slot machine of Edward Perry, with the aid of a lead token. He was seen by the proprietor, and upon being accosted, he admitted the offence. Before Mr. E. Page, S.M., In the Police Court, yesterday, be was fined £2, in default seven days’ Imprisonment, See Wong was fined £4 for falling to close his shop at 7 p.m. Star Stores (Wellington), Ltd. (Mr. Mazengarb), was directed to pay costs only on a charge of employing an assistant after 9 p.m. The possession of an unlicensed radio set cost Raymond Esau £3. A fine of £4 was Imposed on Ernest Berwick for failing to keep a proper look-out at a railway crossing. The following were each fined £2 tor being found unlawfully on licensed premises:—C. Ernest Ballard, Cecil W. Lavrtee, Aithua Bryaats, Kfesuaaa Matthew*.
