HOMING PIGEONS
Petone Club Race The Petone Homing Pigeon Club flew a race last Saturday from Opua, ani airline distance of 412 miles. Having a favourable wind, the birds covered the journey in a little under ten hours. A close race resulted as follows.—.l. Bolton’s r.c. h. Sunspot, velocity 1213.41 yards a minute, 1; W. Whittington s b.c.w.l. h. No. Hill. 1213.45yd5., 2; J. Boltons b.c. C. Sun Ray, 1211.14yd5., 3; J. Bolton’s r.c. c. Sun Flash, 1209.09yd5., 4; J. Wood s blk. c. All Black, 1203.97yd5., 5; W. Smiths b.c.p. h. Spotty, 1203.27yd5., 6. Next Saturday a race will be flown from Dunedin. ~
