WARNING TO MOTORISTS
If motorists fall foul of traffic inspectors in Petone it is their own fault, for every street has placed in it a sign, boldly painted, declaring the speed for that street. In all side streets the speed limit has been fixed at 20 miles an hour. . „ . A short time ago attention was called in these columns to the danger of having a bus stop in such a position that people had to cross not only the railway line at the Petone crossing but the Hutt Road. The suggestion was made that the stop should be mdved to the Petone side of the crossing. That suggestion has now been carried out, and the. people who are desirous of travelling by bus no longer have to brave the dangers of train and motor traffic. This change, however, is attended with another and unforeseen difficulty caused by the change in train warning signals from the wig-wag system to lights. These lights, being set fairly low, the buses when they stop obscure the vision of the light from cars following behind. That is a difficulty that san be easily remedied, and the Petone traffic inspector, Mr. Gough, is giving the matter his attention.
