VICE-REGAL VISIT

Mnstol-ton, December a. Arrangements for the reception ot ms Excellency the Governor-General . and Lady Bledisloe during thoir visits to li’eiitherston and Mastertou next week arc now complete. They will Vo tendered a reception bv Featherston residents iu the Anzae Hall at 2.30 p.m. on Monday, and business premises will be closed between 1.30 p.m. and 3.30 p.m, _ Their Excellencies will arrive at Masterton by wir on Tuesday •morning and will bo tendered a public reception in the Municipal Hall nt 11 n.m. The Mayor, Mr. T. Jordan, is inviting business men to grant leave of absence to their employees for an hour and a half so they may take part iu the welcome. The Mayor will preside at the meeting, and brief speeches will bo made by one or two district representatives. At noon their Excellencies are to be entertained at an official luncheon at the Hotel Midland. Over one hundred invitations have been issued for this function. ' ■ ’ ' The children will welcome the ViceRegal visitors in the afternoon, when pupils of the upper classes iu the primary schools arc to assemble in the park nt 2 p.m. Boy scouts and girl guides are also to parade, and if possible his Excellency will present prizes won last season by members of the Wairarupa Boys’ and Girls’ Agricultural Clubs. Later their Excellencies will visit the local post-primary schools aud the Masterton hospital.
