DISCOVERY SAILS
Bound for Antarctic Ice SEND-OFF AT HOBART (Rec. November 23, 5.5 p.m.) Hobart, November 23. The Discovery, with Sir Douglas Mawson and the members of his expedition, sailed for the South, and was accorded au enthusiast send-off by crowds ashore and yachts in the harbour. Sir Douglas, in a farewell message, thanked the people of Hobart for their hospitality. Ho declared that the value of the Antarctic would increase with a better knowledge of it. The ship expects to reach Macquarie Island in seven or eight days and, after a short stay, will proceed toward the ice. ■
