SUCCESSFUL JOY NIGHT

Hundreds of d.ancers attended the Town Hall last evening when the Commercial Travellers and Warehousemen’s Association held its tenth annual “joy night.” The main hall and the Concert Chamber were used for dancing,, both places being taxed 'to full capacity. Strings of flags were used in decorating, while balloons and other novelties distributed made a bright scene. The galleries were crowded with spectators till a late hour.

The proceeds the evening are to provide Christmas cheer for children in the Wellington Hospital, orphanages and other charitable institutions, also the Commercial Travellers and Warehousemen’s blind soldiers and sailors’’fqndDuring the evening an “ugly man” competition was held. This was won by Mr. Charles Simmonds, who was partnered by Mlss E. Macdonald, Mr. Carl Pugo and Miss D. Wood being second. The'committee comprised: Messrs. Arthur Jacobs (prssident), R. E. Selby (secretary), J. A. Smyth, H. Strange-Mure, J. D. Marks, J. H. Bradshaw. D. G. McCaul, H. Young. M. C. Walker, A. G. Hugh, J. A. Foster, W. Hustler-Smith, W. Smith, J. V. Curtis..
