WELLINGTON ROSE SHOW

The annual Rose Show to be held in the Town Hall on. Wednesday will strike the rose at its best, and a record display is looked for. This show, to many, is the one show of the year, and the name of the “Queen of Flowers” as well. merited. Besides the roses, pansies will be shown in great variety, the show, fancy, decorative, and masterpiece all having many devotees among the flower lovers. Among the women, competition for the Rosemary trophy promises to be unusually keen. The “Evening Post” trophy for the most successful suburban society, at present held by the Miramar Society, will bring out the suburban growers in force. The Wellington Challenge trophy, J. G. MacKenzie trophy, Stewart Dawson Cup, R. M. Griffiths’s memorial trophy, are all sure of keen competition among- the rose growers; as are the Hope Gibbons trophy and the R. A. Nicol trophy among the pansy enthusiasts. The Knox Gilmer trophy for cut flowers will also be competed for, for the first time.
