New season’s strawberries are expected to make their appearance in Wellington next Tuesday or Wednesday.
Yesterday, with the arrival of the Dutch squadron, there were eight twinfunnel vessels in port. They were the three Dutch vessels, H.M.S. Dunedin, the Nelson ferry boat Matangi, and the Union Steam Ship Company’s vessels, Tamahine, Wahine and Maheno.
A service to charity not generally appreciated to the full is that performed by the Boys' Institute Band. The band is at the disposal of organisations in Wellington and the public is invited to apply for its assistance in any deserving cause.
