PUBLIC GOLF COURSE

Successful Venture Dominion Special Service. Christchurch, October 14. Tlie very successful first year of the municipal golf links at New Brighton was commented on by Mr. J. 11. Shaw at a meeting of the Rawhili Domains Board. Mr. Shaw said that if the success of the course continued on the basis, of the first year, the whole of the capital thrtrges could be met out of revenue. A suggestion was made by a member that more land should be used for the course. “There is work for two or three years there yet,” said Mr. Shaw. “We have been fortunate that we have been able to provide work for the unemployed, ibe expenditure on the course has served a useful purpose which many sums spent on unemployment do not do. It lias created something. The board is to be congratulated on turning a piece of waste land into a revenue-producing asset.”
