INTOXICATED DRIVER
Fine of £2O Imposed Dominion Special Service. Marton, October 15. In a charge, that while in a state of intoxication he was in charge of a motorcar in a public place a well-known retired Marton farmer appeared before Messrs. H. Y. Cameron and H. M. Parkinson at the Marton Court with a plea of guilty. , , . , x Mr. Ladley represented defendant, and asked for suppression af his name. Although they refused the request the justices were to some extent in favour of granting it, and finally intimated. that the Press could exercise its owii discretion in the matter. Constable Thompson, who conducted the prosecution, said that defendant was a well-known, respectable resident, and on Saturday afternoon he came to Marton where on meeting several friends he partook of too much drink. “In view of the seriousness of the offence and its possible results we feel it our duty to inflict a fine of £20,” said Mr. Cameron.
