PERSONAL ITEMS

The Hon. A. J. Stallworthy left Auckland for Wellington last night. The Hon. J. B. Donald, PostmasterGeneral, returned to Wellington by yesterday's Limited express from Auckland. Mr. A. .Miles was a passenger by the Maunganui yesterday. Mr. M. Kortlang, of Sydney, is at the Midland Hotel. Mr. C. A. Ramsey, of Sydney, is at the Grand Hotel. Mr. W. A. Parker is an American visitor staying at the Midland Hotel. Mr. and Mrs. D. Moncur, of Wellington, returned by the lonic from a trip abroad.

Mr. C. H. Jeeves, of London, is a visitor to Wellington, staying at the Grand Hotel. The Rev. Fathers G. Gartlan, W. Pucker and J. Cullen were passengers by the Maunganui yesterday. . Mr. J. S. Barton, S.M., returned by the lonic from an extensive tour of Europe and Africa. Mr. G. K. Parsons, of Halifax, Canada, arrived in Wellington yesterday, and is at the Grand Hotel.

Mr. W. Waddel, superintendent of State Advances, returned from Auckland yesterday. Mr. J. Galbraith, of the Shaw, Savill and Albion Co., Ltd., Dunedin, arrived in Wellington by the Maunganui yesterday. Mr. E. I. Halsted, of the D.I.C. Ltd., and Hallenstein Bros. Ltd., returned to New Zealand by the Maunganui yesterday. Accompanied by Mrs. Halsted he has spent the last three months on holiday in Australia. Mr. Lawrence Glover, an old Scots College boy, and late of'the National Bank, Christchurch, has been accepted as a trainee in the Royal Air Force. Mr. Glover will commence training on September 12. 1 Mr. E. W. P. Bucholz, of Wellington, arrived by the Maunganui yesterday at the conclusion of a three months’ visit to Australia, Java and the East. He was accompanied by Mrs. Bucholz. Professor C. A. Dunlway, Professor of History, Carleton College, Northfield (Minn.), United Stales, was a passenger to Sydney by the Makura yesterday. He is travelling on behalf of the Carnegie Trust for the furtherance of international goodwill. • After lecturing at Sydney University for about six months, he will go to Japan in furtherance of bis mission.
