KAWARAU GOLD

River Again Very Low

Dominion Special Service.

Dunedin, August 26.

The Cromwell correspondent of the “Evening Star” states that the Kawarau River is again very low, and particularly favourable for mining, and ■ the clear, frosty weather enhances these conditions. An application to the Public Works Department, Wellington, nine days ago, was referred 1 back to be made to the Control Board. Application to the board Was made last Friday, but no information is yet to hand as to whether or not this will be granted. If it ii a number of the unemployed will take up mining on the unrestricted sections of the river that the local companies will permit them to operate.
