Temperance Meeting
A meeting of the Lower Hutt W.C.T.U. was held at the Church of Christ last Wednesday. There was a fair attendance of members. Apologies were received from several members, and those who are sick are to be visited. The devotional part of the meeting was led by Mrs. Lopdell. An evening is to be held in Wesley schoolroom, Wellington, on July 31, for the entertainment of the “district executive,” and the final arrangements for that function were made. Mrs. Peryninn and Miss C. Kirk are to be the speakers. A short programme has been arranged for that evening, and it was also resolved to hold a meeting at Alicetown on August 6. It was decided to hold the birthday effort at the next meeting, to take the form of a social afternoon.
Discussion followed a paper by Mrs. Crawford on “Some Problems of Youth.” Mrs. Aldersley, the secretary, gave a brief report of a meeting which was recently held at Upper Hutt. A special appeal was made for donations to the headquarters fund.
