Lady Bledisloe will be the guest of honour at a function to be given by the Manawatu County Club on Monday evening, and on Tuesday night the Palmerston North Rotarians will give a reception in the Rosco rooms to Lord and Lady Bledisloe, the function promising to be worthy of the auspicious occasion. It is anticipated that there will be about 300 present. The women’s organisations of Palmerston North will tender a social evening on Wednesday to Lady Bledisloe. This will also be held in the Rosco rooms.

Miss M. Oakes, of Wellington, is the guest of Mr. and Mrs.' D. J. Lovelock, of Church Street, Palmerston North. Mrs. Malden, of Turakina, is the guest of Mrs. R. W. Priest, of Roy Street, Palmerston North. Miss M. O’Shea, of Wellington, is the guest of Miss Spelman, of Massey Street, Palmerston North. Miss Linda Young, of Lower Hutt, is a visitor to Palmerston North. Miss Rona Woodward, of Palmerston North,, is visiting friends at Hawke’s Bay. Miss Phyllis Woodward is spending a holiday at Lower Hutt. Miss Dorothy Turner, of Napier, has returned from a visit to her sister-in-law, Mrs. A. L. Turner, of “Viewfar,” Fitzherbert, Palmerston North. An enjoyable dance was held at the Broadway Lounge, Palmerston North, on Thursday night to celebrate the coming-of-age of Miss Cecilia Spelman, youngest daughter of Mr. P. Spelman, of Massey Street, Palmerston North. Green and gold streamers decorated the room and paper caps and favours were given to. the dancers adding to the gaiety of the scene. Novelty dances and songs by Mr. A. Balmer were greatly appreciated. The supper tables were bright with autumn foliage, and there was a large birthday cake adorned by a golden key. Miss Cecelia Spelman wore a frock pf green floral taffeta faille with georgette flounces, finished at the waistline with a flat bow. Among those present were Mesdames A. Balmer, O. Hooper, C. Spelman, L. Forrest, A. Lynch, W. Laird, and Misses E. M. and C. Spelman, H. Hunter, M. Dewiss, D. Wischnewsky, T. Blockley, L, Young (Wellington), P. Leydon, M. Saunders, M. O’Shea (Wellington), M. Rodgers, E. Moffatt and A. Brownjohn. Mrs. Rupert H. Homap, of Worcester Street, Palmerston North, gave a party on Thursday afternoon at the Rosco tearooms in honour of her two nieces, Mrs. A. Leslie Turner and Miss Dorothy Turner, of Napier. Mrs. A. L. Turner has only recently come to live in Palmerston North. There were about 60 guests present. Mrs. Homan received in a gown of blue and black floral georgette with diamante buckles, black silk coat, and close-fitting black hat. Mrs. Turner wore a smart coat and skirt of mole checked tweed and black fur felt bat. Miss Dorothy Turner’s froek was of green kasha and she also wore a musquash coat and green hat. Yellow narcissi decorated the tea tables. An amusing competition was won by Mrs. G. V. Woodward. Those present included Mrs. G. Sutwyche Homan, Mrs. Arthur Russell, Mrs. Caccia Birch, Mrs. O. J. Mrs. Hill, Auckland, is the guest of Mrs. Rv Dickson, Mangaweka. Mrs. J. Watt, St. John’s Hill, Wanganui, leaves shortly for Dunedin with her son, Dr. Maurice Watt. . Mr. and Mrs. F. Rowley have returned to Mangaweka from a visit to Palmerston North. Miss Donaldson has been appointed junior assistant at Wanganui Public Library. Mr. and Mrs. R. Freeman, Christ-, church, is the guest of Mrs. "L. Symons, Gonville, Wanganui. Mrs. Papps, Patea, was hostess recently at a “china” tea given in honour of Miss Freda Boagey, whose marriage takes place next week. ■ Miss C. McDonnell, who has been the guest of Mrs. W. McDonald, Mangamahu, Wanganui, has returned to Napier. Mrs. H. Harris, Wanganui East, has returned from Stratford. Mrs. Ralph Brown, St. John’s Hill, Wanganui, is visiting her mother, Mrs. Kirker, Wellington. Mr. and Mrs. J. Jacobs, Wellington, who have been visiting Wanganui, are now in Ngaruawahla. Mrs. H. Findlay, Hawera, visited Wanganui, on Wednesday to attend the women’s division of the Farmers’ Union reception to their Excellencies Lord and Lady Blesisloe. Mrs. J. P. Ward, Wanganui, who has been the guest of her mother, Mrs. T. E. Jefcoate, has returned to her home up the Wanganui River. Major and Mrs. Fillery, Auckland, are visiting Wanganui. Mr. and Mrs. Cartwright are New Plymouth visitors to Wanganui. Mrs. E. E. Harris, of England, arrived in Wanganui .yesterday. Her marriage to the Rev. O. F. Pierce, headmaster of the Wanganui Collegiate School, will take place in the school chapel next Tuesday. Mrs. E. Pearce has returned to Wanganui from Sydney. Mrs. G. M. Patrick, New Plymouth, is visiting Wanganui. Miss Ella McDonald, Hunterville, is visiting Hawke’s Bay. Mrs. Humphry Williams, Auckland, is the guest of Mrs. W. Billows, Wanganui. Miss M. Bain, Hunterville, is visiting New Plymouth. Mrs. Kenneth Bain, Christchurch, is the guest of Mrs. W. Billows, Wanganui.
