CALM AFTER STORM
Yesterday’s Weather In sharp contrast to the preceding day yesterday was fine and calm. The morning was dull, » but shortly after noon the sun broke through. What little wind there was came from the north. For the twenty-four hours ended at midnight last night 6 points of rain was recorded on the "Dominion’s” rain gauge. The weather in Auckland to-day was fine, but cold. There was a strong wind from the south-east, but bright sunshine. The barometer reading is 30.40, and is rising.
Following eight degrees of frost the weather at Christchurch yesterday morning was mostly dull. The afternoon, however, was fine with a generous amount of bright sunshine with no wind. The maximum temperature was 52 degrees. The barometer was falling, last evening’s reading being 30.29. .The night was clear and cold. The .weather was cloudy and fine with occasional brief periods of sunshine in Dunedin yesterday. The wind was very light from the south-west and the maximum temperature was 50 degrees. The barometer was high and fairly steady, last evening’s reading being 30.20 inches.
