FIFTEEN MONTHS’ COAL WAR VOTES OF MINERS’ LODGES LANDSLIDE FOR RETURN TO WORK By Telegraph—Press Association—Copyright (Rec. May 15, 7.50 p.m. Sydney, May 15. Reports from the Northern Coalfields indicate that the fifteen months’ coal war is coming to an end. The votes of miners at respective lodge meetings are already four to one in favour of a resumption of work upon the owners’ terms. The full result will not be known till to-morrow. Officials at the Newcastle Trades Hall declare that the voting “Discloses a landslide for return to work.” The miners’ leaders at all meetings bad urged the men to face the facts, as within six weeks the funds would be completely exhausted. MINERS’ DEMANDS REMOVAL OF FREE LABOUR (Rec. May 16, 1 a.m.) Sydney, May 15. Although an overwhelming majority are in favour of a return to work, the coalminers intend to insist on the removal of free labour from the Rothbury and other pits, and also on the release of comrades from gaol and the remission of all fines.
