UNEMPLOYMENT

Sir, —Seeing that unemployment in Masterton and Carterton is becoming bad, I would make a suggestion that would reduce it. We have the boulders on the plains within two or three miles of the railway. Well, my idea is to have them railed from the nearest siding to any county that is requiring same for roadmaking. The New Zealand railways could rail same at a rate that would cover cost, and so help to reduce unemployment in the Wairarapa. I have been speaking to some of the farmers,, and they think it is a good idea, and would help all they can. The work should be on a co-operative basis.—l am, etc., A. J. LINDOP. Carterton, May 12.
