A TOUCH OF WINTER
YESTERDAY’S WEATHER Wellington experienced a fine sunny morning yesterday, but later in the day the sky became overcast, accompanied with cooler temperatures. Heavy rain fell in the early portion of the evening which later gave way to a steady drizzle. Late last night the weather prospects for the week-end did not appear too rosy. The weather was fine at Auckland yesterday, but a dull and overcast sky threatened rain. There was a light wind from the north-west. The barometer registered 29.80 in., and was falling.
Wintry weather was experienced in Christchurch yesterday, the sky being overcast for most part, with a biting breeze from the south-west. The maximum temperature was 55 degrees. Barometer was rising, reading 29.70 in. In Dunedin the weather was fine but unsettled and cold yesterday. There were brief periods of sunshine, and the wind was light from the south-west, but it freshened in the afternoon, and light rain fell. The maximum temperature was 55 degrees. The barometer fell nearly .50 since Wednesday, but was steady at 29.65 in.
