TAIHAPE NOTES
Taihape, April 10. The amateur theatrical production which ran for a season of four nights last week was a distinct financial success. The door takings were £217 and expenses £67. leaving a net profit of £l5O, which was divided between the school committee and the producer, Mr, W. Lints. As the school committee’s portion will carry a £1 for £1 subsidy, the school will benefit to the extent of £l5O. At a recent meeting of the Taihape Golf Club, an invitation was received from the Belmont Club. Wanganui, and it was decided to send a team there on May 28, if convenient. Discussion ensued at the weekly meeting of the Rugby Union concerning the borough council’s offer of the rental of the grandstand on the Domnin for £lOO for the season, the union to make payments of £25 on Hie first day of June. July. August and September. The secretary (F. M. Marlow) said that the council's share of gate and stand takings last season was £l6O. The general opinion of Hie meeting was that the present position tended to kill representative matches as the union would be unable to finance teams for returji games. The president (Air. J. Quirk) said that he would confer with Mr. S. S. Dean at the N.Z.R.U. meet! ng.
