The amateur athletic carival at the Caledonian Ground was atteded by 3000 people. A strong wind blew across the ground. In a mile scratch race }. Lermond (America) had no trouble ingaining the victory. He came up in the Ist lap with a magnificent stride and won rom Barnes with Morris third.

G. A. Golding (Australia) won the 440 yards event easily with McLachlan in second place. In a one mile relay the ompetitors were six local club tennis an an international team (Barnes, Lernjnd, Golding and Brownlie). The even was won by Leith Club, with Anglicn second.
