LERMOND AND GOULDING AT DUNEDN

The amateur athletic carival at the Caledonian Ground was atteded by 3000 people. A strong wind blew across the ground. In a mile scratch race }. Lermond (America) had no trouble ingaining the victory. He came up in the Ist lap with a magnificent stride and won rom Barnes with Morris third.
G. A. Golding (Australia) won the 440 yards event easily with McLachlan in second place. In a one mile relay the ompetitors were six local club tennis an an international team (Barnes, Lernjnd, Golding and Brownlie). The even was won by Leith Club, with Anglicn second. The contest was not interesthg as the visitors were forced to give awy a great handicap. • In the hop, step and jump handicap R, 0. Johnson made an Otago record of 45ft. Sjin. |
