Williamson proposal to build an up-to-date theatre in Masterton is evidenced by the issue of a prospectus for a debenture issue of £lB,OOO by Regent Theatre (MastertoiQ Ltd., a private company. It is tbe intention of the company to purchase tbe site in Queen Street now occupied by Messrs. The total cost of the venture is expected to reach £45,000, of which amount a good proportion is likely to be spent in Masterton. The plans of the proposed theatre, which will have its main entrance in Queen Street, provide seating accommodation for 1200 people. Provision has been made for four shops, whilst a suite of offices will occupy the floor above. The site has a frontage to Queen Street of 77 feet with a depth of 165 feet.
