TRIANGULAR CONTEST KIA TOA (PALMERSTON N.) WIN BANNER Dominion Special Service. Wanganui, February 2. There was a large attendance of the public at the sports gathering held ut Cook's Gardens, Wanganui, last evening. The night was beautifully fine, but rather chilly. Several prominent athletes who had hoped to come were unable to be present. There was some fine running, particularly in the mile, when C. McCarthy (I’etone) and 11. K. Johnstone (Pirates? raced neck and ■neck up the straight, McCarthy winning by inches. M. J. Strange (Kia Toa) won both the 100 yards and 220 yards, and his clubmate, 11. Piercy, ran second in the 100 yards, 220 yards, and 440 yards. J. Morris (Petone) did well, winning the three cycle events for which he entered. The banner was won by Kia Toa- (Palmerston North), with 68 points; Petone (Wellington) second with 43; Pirates (Wanganui), 15.
