HORTICULTURE

HUTT VALLEY SOCIETY. The midsummer flower show, which will include gladioli, dahlias, sweet peas, asters, cut flowers (three sections), decorative ana home industries, will be held in the Town Hall, Lower Hutt, on Wednesday and Thursday next. There has been a keen demand for space, and the allocation of the F. R. Cooper memorial gold medal to this show for the most meritorious exhibit, should make this the most interesting and competitive exhibition ever hold by the society. There will be special exhibits of begonias and hydrangeas bv well-known growers. The siiecial items in the children’s section are writing, best dressed doll, and decorative table. Dainty refreshments, afternoon and evening, will be under the control ot the ladies’ committee. The presentation of prizes and auction sale of flowers win take nlnce on Thursday evening. Mr. W. Nash. M.P., will oltlcially open the show ou Wednesday at 2.4 G p.m.
