MURIWAI BEACH MOTOR RACES
GRIERSON'S STUTZ WINS CHIEF EVENT.
By Telegraph.—Press Association. Auckland, January 26. Many motorists visited Muriwai Beach for the motor races, and conditions were perfect. The chief event, the Australasian Beach Championship, resulted as follows: R. Grierson’s Stutz, 1; R. G. Wraight’s Chrysler, 2; G. Sutherland’s Sutherland’s Special, 3. Also started: A. R. E. Messenger’s Messengers’ Special, D. Paul's Thomas Special, T. L. Cooper’s Essex, A. P. Donald’s Hudson. The race, was a thrilling one between the Stutz and the Chrysler, with the rest of the field paired off. Won by two seconds and twofifths. Time, 13min. 29 2-ssec. The Touring Car Handicap of six miles was won by B. Shorter’s Essex, while the New Zealand Beach Handicap, of 18 miles, went to S. H. McGrath’s Rugby off 120 sec. Several handicap motor-cycle races were held.
