WOMEN IN AUTHORITY
DISCUSSION AT TEACHERS’ CONFERENCE London, January 1. Women teachers assembled in conference at Canterbury are highly indignant at men of their own profession who declare that they cannot work under women. Mrs. F. Day, member of the Central Council, asked why they should object. ‘Prime Ministers worked under Queens, public servants today worked under Miss Bonfield, and soldiers followed Boadicea and Joan of Are.
The congress passed a resolution that all avenues of promotion be open /to women equally with men. The “Daily Express” editorially supports the men. “Few people, men or women, like working under a woman. The gift of using power and authority tactfully is rarely bestowed on women,” it says. “
