Mackie, formerly of Christchurch, broke the five miles motor-paced record established by H. Opperman, the Australian champion, .at Christchurch last week. Mackie’s time was 7min. 32 2-ssec., against Opperman's Bmin. 27sec. Mackie was paced by his brother, W. Mackie, former holder of New Zealand cycling championships.
