FIRE INSURANCE RATES GO UP
HIGH WASTE THE REASON By Telegraph.—Press Association. Masterton, December 19. Advice has been received in Masterton regarding fire insurance rates in the Dominion to the effect that, as a result of a certain revelation in the latest statistics compiled by the Government of the loss rates on certain hazards, It has been found essential (1) To increase the rate per cent, over certain risks and discontinue the bonus rebate of 12 J per cent; (2) to discontinue the bonus rebate only. The alterations will take effect from January 1. . , The advice states the increase is regrettable, but the offices operating in New Zealand, the State Office included, have no other option save declining certain unprofitable risks altogether if the enormous fire waste In the 1 Dominion continues.
