SUCCESSFUL YEAR’S WORK The annual meeting of the Wesley Church congregation was held on Wednesday evening and was well attended. It was opened with devotional exercises by the Rev. T. R. Richards, minister of the church. The meeting was presided over by Mr. L. J. Clark, circuit steward. Tim vurioqs departments of the church were reported on by the members of the Board of Church Management. Mr, Clark spoke for the circuit ami commented on the good work that had been done during the year now drawing to a close. There was marked progress in all departments of the activities represented by the church. Mr. E. Hurley spoke for flic 'Trust Board. Mr. W. E. Howe for the Sunday school, Mr. IL S. Maunder for the young people’s Bible classes, Mr. H. Temple White for the efioir, Mr. Russel spoke of the work that had been done on behalf of the Home
and Foreign Mission, for which over £5OO had been raised during the past I twelve months. It was regarded as very encouraging that such excellent work was being done by the leaders of the Bible classes, Mr. R. 8. Maunder and Miss A. Firth. It was stated that during the year the trustees have had the church renovated at a cost of about £3OOO, and the church is pow most attractive in every wav. The Rev. T. R. Richards reported that the adult membership of Wesley Church was 454, with 42 junior members. J luring the year 49 new names were added to the church roll while 12 young men and women bad made confession of faith and after careful training had been publicly received into church membership. The chairman said that the pulpit ami pastoral work of the Rev. T. R. Richards had been of a high order and much credit was due to Mr, and Airs. Richards for the good work’ that had been done during the year. The services that had been held in I he De Luxe Theatre were most successful and through them many had joined the church. The minister had paid 450 visits to parishioners dur-
■ ing the year, while the hospital and the sick had received special attention. The sympathy of the meeting was expressed to those who had suffered bereavement during the year. The following were elected to the Board of Management:—Benevolent stewards, Messrs. Daniel, Skinner and Mourant; society stewards, Messrs. Skinner, J. O. Priestley, Hurley, Barrington, Barrett, R. Denton, F. Gardiner and Walton. Tlie following were appointed to represent Hie congregation :—Mesdaines J. Priestley and Horner, Messrs. Stokes, H. Touks and E. Howe. During the evening a so]o was rendered by Airs. F. Gardiner and a quartette by Messrs. E. Howe, C. Howe, K. Strong and F. Gardiner, the items being much appreciated. Mr. H. Temple White presided at. tlie organ. At Hie idnsc of tlie meeting refreshments were dispensed by the ladies of I lie congregation, for which limy were accorded a very hearty vote of thanks. The benediction closed a very enthusiastic meeting and the record of a very happy and successful year of church work.
