Graham, answering a question, admitted tliat since the introduction of the motor tire duty in 1927 five foreign tire-making factories had been established in Britain employing 5500 men. Mr. Snowden. Chancellor of the Exchequer, replying to questions in a Financial Statement before the recess, said that he did not intend to announce the Government’s specific intention regarding the McKenna Safeguarding duties.
