NEW BUILDINGS WANTED

MASTERTON TECHNICAL SCHOOL Dominion Special Service. , Masterton. December IS. The annual break-up ceremony and presentation of prizes of the Mas rton Technical School took place to-day. lhe prizes were presented by the Mayor, Mr. T. Jordan, Chnriman of the Wairarapa Secondary Education Board. Mr. W. 11. Jackson, who presided, stated that he had helped to draw up a scheme for technical education in the early days of Masteftoli. but the school had now grown to such dimensions that it required a new suit of clothes—a new building. Referring to the provision of a neW building Mr. Jackson said that in his opinion no better use could be made of the funds of the Masterton Trust Lands Trust than for such an object, and he hoped to use his utmost strength to see that such a building was provided, and with the best of equipment. He was certain Mftsterton would rise to the occasion when the time came. The principal. Mr. F. V. Martin, in his annual report, referred to the scattered. unsightly, ancient and somewhat inadequate buildings which had come down to them from a past when technical schools had still to prove their worth. NOW that technical schools hud taken an assured place in the scheme of education thev looked confidently for a hew school with an environment worthy of the work carried on. Mr. Martin went on to survey the events of the past year. After presenting the Prizes and certificates. Mr. Jordan congratulated the school upon the excellence of the work oil exhibition, and offered words nf advice to the buys and girls. Speaking as
