Child Marriages in India.—Owing to the Act forbidding child marriages, passed by the Legislative Assembly, not coming into operation until April, children are being married en masse in Bombay at present, states a Press Association message from Delhi. Two thousand are being married at Surat alone. ’1 he boom iias already led to ilie demand for exorbitant dowries. The moneylenders at Gujarat are said to be doing a .roaring business.
