It is stated that the cost of the new Kelburn viaduct will be approximately £21,500.

The memorial band rotunda at Island Bay, which is now well on the way, will cost £920, towards which the residents have made a substantial contribution. 1 , Yesterday the visiting aeroplanes at Rongotai Aerodrome were aloft early, and during the day many passenger flights were made. The exhibitions of stunting given delighted the large crowd of spectators who visited the field. Conveniences are being erected at Rata Road, Evans Bay Road, at a cost of £737, while conveniences, tramway waiting shed and retaining wall near the gates to the Botanical Gardens, Glenmore Road, are costing £975. Conveniences are also being erected at Ngaio and Khandallah, the total expenditure for these being £7lB. Shortly before two o’clock on Saturday afternoon the queue of cars going to the air pageant extended from Onepu Road, Kilbirnie, to the main entrance gates to the airport, and some hundreds of cars had already been parked. Although provision had beep made for 800, it appeared as if it would not be sufficient, and the adjoining roads were being used on both sides. The situation was well managed by officers of the traffic department.

It is announced by the Registrar of Motor-vehicles that the fee for an amendment to the motor register has been reduced from 5/- to 1/6. The Fire Brigade had a very busy week-end attending to numerous gorse fires in the suburbs. From 9.44 p.m. on Saturday to 7.36 last night ten calls were received.

An indignation meeting in connection with the sale of Scots College building is to be held on Wednesday evening at St. John’s Schoolroom. It is hoped to obtain a month’s respite in an endeavour to save the college to tha church.

While driving in the Taita Gorge at about 4 o’clock on Saturday afternoon, F. Keen, a traveller of 301 Cuba Street, capsized in his motor-car, as a result of which he received wounds to his left arm. He was attended by Dr. Nash, and later conveyed to the Public Hospital

Through falling down some stairs at his home, 8 Crosby Terrace, on Saturday, E. Morrison, a mechanic, received scalp wounds and concussion, which necessitated his removal to the hospital by the Free Ambulance.

A man named William Leach, whose address and occupation are unknown, while riding a motor-cycle at Paraparauma at about 5.30 p.m. yesterday, struck a motor-car, receiving head injuries, concussion and shock. The Free Ambulance was summoned, and, after having received attention on the spot, Leach was admitted to the Public Hospital.

A little incident witnessed in Taranaki Street on Saturday behoves lorry drivers to make sure that their loads are securely tied down. A truck loaded with old roofing-iron had justapproached the intersection of Ghuznee Street when a sudden gust of wind caught and carried a number of the sheets on to the footpath. Fortunately there were no pedestrians about at the time or someone might have been hurt.
