STORM IN SYDNEY

THREE BOYS DROWNED HALL WRECKED AT GRAFTON (United Press Association.—By Electric Telegraph. —Copyright.) Sydney, November 15. A violent thunderstorm in Sydney yesterday was responsible for great damage to gardens and buildings and the loss of two lives. Three schoolboys sheltering in a dry stormwater canal at Leichhardt were suddenly overwhelmed by a wall of stormwater, which carried them half a mile. Two, aged ten and eight years, were drowned. The third was rescued In an unconscious condition. A horse was killed by lightning, and poultry and birds were killed by hail, which also smashed windows and motor-car screens by the score. The city was deluged, and in the lower portions of Hunter and George Streets there was a swirling torrent of water inches deep. Later.

It is revealed that another boy was drowned during yesterday’s storm, being swept down a stormwater channel at Alexandria. A ball of fire ran up the facade of the M.U.1.0.0.F. building in the city during the cyclone. At Grafton a public hall was shifted bodily and wrecked.
