SWIMMING

NEW CLUB FORMED. Palmerston North, November 14. .A meeting of Terrace End residents last night decided to form a Terrace End Swimming and Life-saving Club, in connection with the school baths. Subscriptions were fixed as follow:—Senior, 3s. 6d.; ladies. Is. 6dl; junior (High School boys or .under 18 years). Is. Mr. A. D. Campbell (president of the Manawatu Swimming Centre), who was elected chairman, assured those present that the centre would assist the newlyformed club in any way possible, while Mr. W. C. Collier, representing the local branch of the Royal Life-saving Society, assured them that they would have the society’s support. Messrs. W. Schwarz and D. C. Pryor were appointed to wait upon the Terrace End School Committee at its next meeting to present to it matters with regard to the formation of the club. The election, of officers resulted as follows:—Patron, Mr. .1. A. Nash, M.P.: president, Mr. A. McKegg; vice-presi-dents, Messrs. R. H. Spencer. Dr. Hunter Will, Tillick. S. H. Snell, and W. B. Cameron, and Dr. Witherow, secretary and treasurer, Mr. W. Schwarz; club captain. Mr. D. C. Pryor; committee, Messrs. W. C. Collier, A. W. Thompson, J. Arthur. J. H. Christmas, G. Priest, W- McPherson, N. Robinson, and Cliff Hainiltg; handicapper. Mr. W. Schwarz; timekeepers, Messrs. Weston Smith and Forrest; delegate to Manawatu Centre, Mn D. C. Pryor. ALLOCATION OF CHAMPIONSHIPS. The Mauawatu swimming championships have, been allocated as follow: — Miumwatu Centre, 100yds. and' Levin Cup: Terrace End. 220yds. free style; Y.M.G.A. 220yds. breaststroke; Foxton, ladies’-50yds.; Royal Life-saving Society, ladies’ 100yds.;. Palmerston North. 100 yds./boys’ intermediate; Feilding, girls’ 50yds.
