Palmerstpn North, October 9. In spite of tlie inclemency of the weather (Here was a large attendance of enthusinsts at the official opening of tlie season at the Northern Bowling. Croquet rind lenms Club this afternoon. In declaring tlie season open. Mr. P. Larconib paid a tribute to Mr. T. R. Hodder, who. when tlie club was formed eight or nine years ago, had been its first president. ' Mr. Larcomb attributed the present ideal surroundings and position of the club to the foundation work liy Mr. Hodder. He expressed the hope that the season would lie a happy one and that members of other clubs would enjoy a sporting season. Messrs. O. Rowling (Palmerston North), A. Williamson (Feilding- and J. B. Gerrand also spoke, and wished the elub every prosperity.
