INCREASE IN CENTRAL WELLINGTON

Notifications of cases of infectious disease received by the district health authorities for the week ended at noon yesterday, showed an Increase of sis on the previous week’s figures. There Is a considerable Increase from the Central Wellington area, where the scarlet fever, pneumonia, diphtheria and tuberculosis figures have all risen. In the Walrarapa-Hawke’s Bay returns there is a considerable decrease, and there is only one pneumonia case as against six for the previous week. Full details of the notifications from the various hospital districts are as follow. figures for the previous week being given In parentheses:— Wanganui • Horowhenua: Scarlet fever, 7 (5) ; diphtheria, 2 (4) ; tuberculosis, 1 (3) ; pneumonia, 6 (6); pneumonic Influenza, 4 (0) ; erysipelas. 2 (0); puerperal fever, 1 (0); poliomyelitis. 0(1): total, 23 (18). Wairarapa-Hawke’s Bay: Scarlet fever, 2 (3); enteric fever, 1 (1)’; tuberculosis, 3 (1); pnemuonia, 1 (6); erysipelas, 2 (3) ; pneumonic influenza, 0 (1); ophthalmia neonatorum, 0 (1); total. 9 (16). Central Wellington: Scarlet fever, 12 (6) ; diphtheria, 8 (6) ; enteric fever, 1 (0) ; tuberculosis, 6 (4) ; pneumonia, 7 (4); erysipelas, 0 (1) : septic abortion. 0 (1) ; total, 34 (22). Nelson-Marlborough: Scarlet fever, 1 (3); tuberculosis, 0(1); pneumonia, 0 (1) ; total, 1 (5). Grand total: 67 (61).
