EASTERN SUBURBS LEAGUE

ANNUAL MEETING.

The annual meeting of the _ Eastern Suburbs League was held last night. Mr. A. C. Blake presiding over a good attendance.

The annual report, as already published, was approved. “It is not proposed to conduct such a campaign at the present time,” replied the City Council to the league’s request that a health week campaign should be conducted at an early date. The intimation was received. The election of officers resulted as follows :—President, Mr. E. O. Thornton; vice-presidents, Messrs. T. M. Donovan and H. R. Searle; committee. Messrs. W. R. Palmer (Seatoun), R. Mexted (Melrose), W. F. Sherwood (Lyall Bay), and D. Wallis (Happy Valley).; hon. secretary, Mr. H. W. Pilcher; hon. auditor, Mr. J. L. Arcus: delegates to Civic League, Messrs. E. O. Thornton and T. M. Donovan. Mr. D. McLaren referred to the fact that in some districts it was possible that one or two organisations might well combine into one association to the greater advantage of the larger area.
