SLAVERY COMMISSION

REQUEST FOR REVIVAL (British Official Wireless,) Rugby, July 19. The Foreign Secretary, Mr. Arthur .Henderson, to-day received a deputation from the Anti-Slavery and Aborigines Protection Society. They suggested that the temporary Slavery Commission .should be revived by a decision of the next League Assembly and that when it had been revived the documents in the possession of the British Government concerning slavery in Abyssinia, concerning raids from Abyssinia into British territory, traffic across the Red Sea, etc,, should be sent in by the British Government to the Commission. In his reply, the Foreign Secretary assured the deputation of the personal sympathy of himself and the Prime Minister, and promised, in consultation with the departments concerned, to give favourable consideration to the proposal which they made concerning the revival of the temporary Slavery Commission.
