REMITS ADOPTED BY CONFERENCE.

The following remits were adopted yesterday at the annual conference of the Publie Service Association: That the Public Service Commissioner be requested to make definite the period that lightkeepers shall remain at stations —lt is suggested that four years be the period except at Purseyger Point and Cape Maria Van Dieman. where it should not exceed two years. That a further opportunity of joining the Public Service Superannuation Fund be granted to Public Servants who were in the service in 1908 and failed to elect to become contributors. That the association stresses that the hygienic factors of fresh air. sunlighr. and warmth are the most important con sideration in the construction of offices, and urges that Government buildings at present lacking in "these respects be altered or renewed as expeditiously as possible. , , That the conference recommend the Public Service Commissioner to give opportunity to messengers already employed in the Department of Internal Affairs to apply for any vacancy occurring among the ranks of Ministers’ messengers.
