BANKRUPT HOTELKEEPERS

AN “IMPOSSIBLE” RENTAL By Telegraph—Press Association.. Dunedin, May 2. At a meeting of creditors in the bankruptcy of Branson Brothers, lessees of the Crown Hotel, it was stated that the cause of the filing was the “impossible” rental of £2650 a year. The hotel, which is a small house in a side street, has been occupied by the Bransons for only about 18 months. One of the creditors stated that the sympathy of the meeting was with bankrupts, who, he believed, were paying the second highest rental in Dunedin. Bankrupts submitted a proposal to carry on, involving an offer of 12s. 6d. in the £l, but the proceedings were adjourned to enable the creditors to get in touch with the landlord, who is now on the way to England.
