TOWN AND COUNTRY Mrs. H. V. Hammond, of Somme Paraade, Wanganui, is at present iii Palmerston North. Miss Mary Chalmers, of Feilding. is visiting Tetnuka, South Island, where she is the guest bf Mrs. A. Guild. Mr. and Mrs. W. Moffatt and their two daughters, of Awapuui, left last evening for Auckland, where they will join the Aorangi en route to Sydney. Miss Kathleen Oliver, who has been visiting Feilding, has returned to Audi land. Miss M." Forrest, of Palmerston North, has gone to Mbsterlon 'for a few days. Mrs. J. B. Pascal, of Palmerston North, has left for Rotorua, where she will join her sister. Mrs. M. A. Elliot, of Palmerston North, is on a short visit to Wellington.
Airs. Potter is a Palmerston North visitor to Wellington. Air. Fraser Alackenzie, who accepted a position on the staff of the Palmerston North Boys' High School at the beginning of the year, has been awarded n post-graduate scholarship in arts by tho, University. These scholarships enable graduates to continue their studies abroad, and Air. Alackenzie intends going to France. Mr. Alackenzie, who is the son of Professor Alackenzie, of Victoria College, was educated at Wellington College nnd Victoria College. Hr graduated B.A. in 1926. being awarded a seniot University scholarship in French, nnd in 1928 he gained his ALA. with first-class honours in French. He was secretary to the Wellington French Club. Air. and Mrs. Riddick are • Gisborne visitors to Wanganui. Mrs. W. Ashton and Aliss Johnston, Wanganui, returned this week from a length,y visit to Puriri. • Airs. Nuttall and family.
